The world-class hotels and casino resorts business has nine properties in South Africa and five in neighbouring Botswana. Their flagship resort, Emperors Palace, near Johannesburg, regularly hosts top international sporting events.
Operations includes gaming, hotel accommodation and meals.
MIC transaction overview
In 1997, invested at an asset level in Graceland through Marang Southern Highveld.
In 1998, acquired an interest in Caesars casino resort (later renamed Emperors Palace) through the Marang East Rand Gaming Investments empowerment consortium.
In April 2007, the MIC led a consortium that included management and community trusts in a buy-out of Peermont.
The MIC and community broad-based trust collectively own 25% of Peermont.
